Narrative:
After 12:59 duty day, on leg #7, we were 22000 ft MSL and center (ATC) said maintain present heading for flow into airport. After about 15 mins on this heading (first officer flying), at the VOR, we started outbound on the arrival route for say 2-3 mins. ATC called 'what's your heading?' we were on 265 degrees, now we were in turn to right to a 285 degree to 290 degree heading. ATC said 'you were assigned a heading for ATC flow into airport, turn left to a 250 degree heading.' both pilots were very tired after 13 hours on duty and just forgot we were on a heading and started out on the arrival route. We need less takeoffs and lndgs per day, 7-8 is too many. Also 13-15 hour duty day is too long.
