Narrative:

I was climbing to avoid prospective WX and thunderstorms. No thunderstorms were indicated on my WX radar. Climbing out of FL428 we hit what I suspected was either a severe up or down draft. At this time I started an emergency descent turned 90 degrees to left to avoid the WX in front squawked 7700 and told the controller of our plans. We leveled off at 37000 ft in clear air and continued our flight. I didn't hear the controller turn any aircraft to maintain proper vertical and horizontal clearance so we proceeded on with no other problems.
