Narrative:
After landing at day we were told to hold short of runway 36 on our way to the ramp. Captain set the parking brake and I turned off tower frequency to call company to get our gate assignment, in accordance with company SOP. While I was talking to company, captain received clearance to cross and acknowledged 'clear to cross.' as we taxied across runway 36, we looked left and saw a twin turboprop on short final to runway 36 do a go around. After reviewing the ATC tapes, it was discovered the tower controller had used our call sign to instruct another company aircraft to cross runway 6. Captain acknowledged our call sign as clearance to cross runway 36. 2 different errors by 2 different people. If I had continued monitoring ATC until we had crossed all active runways, before calling company, I might have caught at least one of the errors and prevented a potentially hazardous situation.
