Narrative:
Pit approach noted that their display indicated our aircraft to be 300 ft low (5700 ft MSL), and pointed out traffic at 5000 ft. Our indications (altimeters -- all set to local corrected barometric) were that the aircraft was in fact maintaining 6000 ft MSL. The altitude encoder was transferred to the #2 unit and ATC advised their equipment then indicated us to be maintaining 6000 ft. Discrepancy noted in aircraft maintenance log.

Narrative: PIT APCH NOTED THAT THEIR DISPLAY INDICATED OUR ACFT TO BE 300 FT LOW (5700 FT MSL), AND POINTED OUT TFC AT 5000 FT. OUR INDICATIONS (ALTIMETERS -- ALL SET TO LCL CORRECTED BAROMETRIC) WERE THAT THE ACFT WAS IN FACT MAINTAINING 6000 FT MSL. THE ALT ENCODER WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE #2 UNIT AND ATC ADVISED THEIR EQUIP THEN INDICATED US TO BE MAINTAINING 6000 FT. DISCREPANCY NOTED IN ACFT MAINT LOG.
