Narrative:

Our company's crew schedulers made a change to my schedule without notifying me at the time it was changed. When I was notified of the change, I took the time that I have flown and added it to the new scheduled time I was given. It was over 8 hours, 8 hours 2 mins to be exact. I insisted that I could not complete the trip without violating far 121.471A. My chief pilot told me that I could only add my flight time to the scheduled time when the change to my schedule was actually put into the computer. What the company failed to realize is that I have to accept the trip before it can be legal. I was not notified at the proper time. By the time I was notified, I was scheduled illegally.
