Narrative:
Air carrier X cruising at FL350, 40 mi east of bam, noticed aircraft on TCASII at 30 mi out opposite direction. Switched to 20 mi scale, went white to yellow then red. Aircraft was climbing through FL340. TCASII alert went off and I started climbing in compliance. Center then gave us a 40 degree right turn. We climbed to 35400 ft or 35500 ft and I saw a B727 off to left and below us. I believe this was air carrier Y and he was climbing to FL370. This was close and totally prevented by TCASII. Center cleared this guy to be at FL370 by a certain time. Someone messed up.
