Narrative:
Passenger reported he saw a 'hole in the right wing' out his window. We assumed he saw flight spoilers deploy, but a deadheading crew member in the cabin confirmed a 'baseball-sized hole' in top of right wing, just ahead of second spoiler panel out from fuselage. Skin was peeling back. Since we were already in approach, we continued to normal landing at bhm. Maintenance advised spoiler actuator had come loose and damaged wing.
