Narrative:

ASR runway 36 at day, ohio -- first officer's leg. Saw runway about 1/2 mi out, slightly left of centerline. Wind was 320 degrees at 10 KTS. First officer corrected to right to line up on centerline. Landed hard on left main and scraped #1 slat and flap on the runway. Possible wake turbulence from previously arriving aircraft. Supplemental information from acn 316190: first officer made maneuver to align aircraft with runway centerline because runway was at 2 O'clock position. First officer turned right and then immediately prior to touching down turned left to align aircraft longitude with runway. Bank angle was excessive for altitude and aircraft leading edge (slat #1) contacted ground. Contributing factors: 'must land' attitude/drive to push limits of aircraft. 'High minimums.' captain, new to left seat. Brand new flight engineer, failure to recognize when aircraft was in a position that would have warranted go around (actually, I thought we were pushing the limits but I thought the captain and first officer knew it would be safe). Failure of flight engineer to voice concerns. Failure of captain to take control. Failure of ATC to advise crew of relative position of runway to aircraft.

Title: A SUPPLEMENTAL ACR FLC SCRAPED THE L SLAT AND FLAP WHILE IN A LNDG PROC XWIND LNDG, NIGHT OP.

Narrative: ASR RWY 36 AT DAY, OHIO -- FO'S LEG. SAW RWY ABOUT 1/2 MI OUT, SLIGHTLY L OF CTRLINE. WIND WAS 320 DEGS AT 10 KTS. FO CORRECTED TO R TO LINE UP ON CTRLINE. LANDED HARD ON L MAIN AND SCRAPED #1 SLAT AND FLAP ON THE RWY. POSSIBLE WAKE TURB FROM PREVIOUSLY ARRIVING ACFT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 316190: FO MADE MANEUVER TO ALIGN ACFT WITH RWY CTRLINE BECAUSE RWY WAS AT 2 O'CLOCK POS. FO TURNED R AND THEN IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO TOUCHING DOWN TURNED L TO ALIGN ACFT LONGITUDE WITH RWY. BANK ANGLE WAS EXCESSIVE FOR ALT AND ACFT LEADING EDGE (SLAT #1) CONTACTED GND. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: 'MUST LAND' ATTITUDE/DRIVE TO PUSH LIMITS OF ACFT. 'HIGH MINIMUMS.' CAPT, NEW TO L SEAT. BRAND NEW FE, FAILURE TO RECOGNIZE WHEN ACFT WAS IN A POS THAT WOULD HAVE WARRANTED GAR (ACTUALLY, I THOUGHT WE WERE PUSHING THE LIMITS BUT I THOUGHT THE CAPT AND FO KNEW IT WOULD BE SAFE). FAILURE OF FE TO VOICE CONCERNS. FAILURE OF CAPT TO TAKE CTL. FAILURE OF ATC TO ADVISE CREW OF RELATIVE POS OF RWY TO ACFT.
