Narrative:

I exited runway after landing on runway 31L and was advised another aircraft would hold while I joined outer to taxiway kk to the gate. Braking and exit were normal. After exiting aircraft, and in front of the public, an FAA aci berated me for smoking nose tires. Tires were checked at my request and found to be 'perfect.' due to the public nature of this encounter, I had no desire to linger and speak with this aci about variables such as runway surface conditions that could account for smoke. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the captain said that the braking and turning were absolutely normal. The aci was part of a team of inspectors that was going over the captain's company at the time. The captain had the nose and main gears inspected by maintenance personnel and everything was completely normal. The aci next went to the chief pilot with his complaint. The chief interviewed the crew and checked the maintenance record without finding any discrepancy. The chief pilot concluded that the captain probably made an 'other than (company) standard turn.' the captain has not heard further on this matter.

Title: INSPECTOR PERCEPTION -- AN ACR CAPT IS CONFRONTED BY AN ACI DURING PAX DEPLANING AND ACCUSED OF HAVING SMOKING NOSE GEAR TIRES.

Narrative: I EXITED RWY AFTER LNDG ON RWY 31L AND WAS ADVISED ANOTHER ACFT WOULD HOLD WHILE I JOINED OUTER TO TXWY KK TO THE GATE. BRAKING AND EXIT WERE NORMAL. AFTER EXITING ACFT, AND IN FRONT OF THE PUBLIC, AN FAA ACI BERATED ME FOR SMOKING NOSE TIRES. TIRES WERE CHKED AT MY REQUEST AND FOUND TO BE 'PERFECT.' DUE TO THE PUBLIC NATURE OF THIS ENCOUNTER, I HAD NO DESIRE TO LINGER AND SPEAK WITH THIS ACI ABOUT VARIABLES SUCH AS RWY SURFACE CONDITIONS THAT COULD ACCOUNT FOR SMOKE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE CAPT SAID THAT THE BRAKING AND TURNING WERE ABSOLUTELY NORMAL. THE ACI WAS PART OF A TEAM OF INSPECTORS THAT WAS GOING OVER THE CAPT'S COMPANY AT THE TIME. THE CAPT HAD THE NOSE AND MAIN GEARS INSPECTED BY MAINT PERSONNEL AND EVERYTHING WAS COMPLETELY NORMAL. THE ACI NEXT WENT TO THE CHIEF PLT WITH HIS COMPLAINT. THE CHIEF INTERVIEWED THE CREW AND CHKED THE MAINT RECORD WITHOUT FINDING ANY DISCREPANCY. THE CHIEF PLT CONCLUDED THAT THE CAPT PROBABLY MADE AN 'OTHER THAN (COMPANY) STANDARD TURN.' THE CAPT HAS NOT HEARD FURTHER ON THIS MATTER.
