Narrative:

I was flying VFR at 14500 ft, and decided to pick up my IFR clearance which I had filed earlier via fast file with denver FSS. I was climbing nwbound to 17500 ft until I had my clearance. I had made contact with ZDV and had already gotten squawk code, but not a clearance yet. I inadvertently climbed to 18200 ft with an altimeter setting of 30.16 (which equates to approximately FL180). When I noticed my altitude, I descended to 17500 ft immediately. I received my IFR clearance to FL200 approximately 30 seconds after leveling at 17500 ft. I had a passenger in the right seat who was talking to me, creating a distraction.

Title: CORP ACFT CLBS INTO CLASS A AIRSPACE WITHOUT CLRNC.

Narrative: I WAS FLYING VFR AT 14500 FT, AND DECIDED TO PICK UP MY IFR CLRNC WHICH I HAD FILED EARLIER VIA FAST FILE WITH DENVER FSS. I WAS CLBING NWBOUND TO 17500 FT UNTIL I HAD MY CLRNC. I HAD MADE CONTACT WITH ZDV AND HAD ALREADY GOTTEN SQUAWK CODE, BUT NOT A CLRNC YET. I INADVERTENTLY CLBED TO 18200 FT WITH AN ALTIMETER SETTING OF 30.16 (WHICH EQUATES TO APPROX FL180). WHEN I NOTICED MY ALT, I DSNDED TO 17500 FT IMMEDIATELY. I RECEIVED MY IFR CLRNC TO FL200 APPROX 30 SECONDS AFTER LEVELING AT 17500 FT. I HAD A PAX IN THE R SEAT WHO WAS TALKING TO ME, CREATING A DISTR.
