Narrative:
Approaching pxt, we were advised by ATC that we were 3 mi east of J191 approaching R4008 which was hot. We were instructed to turn left to intercept the jet route/arrival route. During this phase of flight, we had just been served dessert and one of the flight attendants was visiting the cockpit. Aircraft mode was heading select/performance cruise with hopewell tuned and idented, flying the hopewell 036 degree radial. Captain had map displayed and first officer had compass rose. Recommendations. As the arrival procedures are approached, eliminate distractions in the cockpit such as visits and meals.
