Narrative:
5 mi from hwd began landing preparation -- speed, flaps, gear, mirror indicates nose gear not down, green light off, test light ok, declare fly-by, attempt manual, abnormal sounds, more fly-by's. Tower indicates not down. Full fuel 143 gallons, begin burn off and contemplation. Attempt recycle, no joy. Request mechanic assistance. 2 a&P's with service manuals for same plane and binoculars. Perform multiple fly-by inspections. Verify all 3 gear at 45 degrees to normal but symmetry with each other. Suggest porpoise. Result nose gear slams forward to stop and bounces back. Burn fuel 4 hours. My CFI makes excellent landing, no injury, no fire. This report is written because 1 witness suggested we did something incorrectly.
