Narrative:
While holding on the published holding at susin for cdg arrival, I noticed another aircraft passing within 1/2 mi on our right. I asked cdg arrival the altitude of the passing traffic at our 3 O'clock position. Arrival stated aircraft is at FL160. I further questioned, as we were at FL160, if we should both be in the holding pattern and at the same altitude. We were then told that the other aircraft was at FL160. I then requested FL150. We were told to maintain FL160 and the other aircraft was climbing to FL170. Arrival explained that there was coordination problem between arrival (that was controling us) and paris radar (center) that was controling the other aircraft. The company has assigned like call signs. Our flight is air carrier xx the other aircraft, also company with call sign of air carrier xy. Because we are cargo aircraft we do not have TCASII. Susin is 14 DME on the 147 degree from clm VOR. I feel that call signs, different controllers controling same area, no TCASII and language contributed to this near miss.

Title: 2 ACR'S IN HOLING PATTERN AT THE SAME PATTERN AT THE SAME ASSIGNED ALT RESULTING IN LTSS. SIMILAR SOUNDING CALL SIGN CAUSED ATC CONFUSION. ACFT BEING WORKED BY DIFFERENT ATC FACILITIES.
Narrative: WHILE HOLDING ON THE PUBLISHED HOLDING AT SUSIN FOR CDG ARR, I NOTICED ANOTHER ACFT PASSING WITHIN 1/2 MI ON OUR R. I ASKED CDG ARR THE ALT OF THE PASSING TFC AT OUR 3 O'CLOCK POS. ARR STATED ACFT IS AT FL160. I FURTHER QUESTIONED, AS WE WERE AT FL160, IF WE SHOULD BOTH BE IN THE HOLDING PATTERN AND AT THE SAME ALT. WE WERE THEN TOLD THAT THE OTHER ACFT WAS AT FL160. I THEN REQUESTED FL150. WE WERE TOLD TO MAINTAIN FL160 AND THE OTHER ACFT WAS CLBING TO FL170. ARR EXPLAINED THAT THERE WAS COORD PROB BTWN ARR (THAT WAS CTLING US) AND PARIS RADAR (CTR) THAT WAS CTLING THE OTHER ACFT. THE COMPANY HAS ASSIGNED LIKE CALL SIGNS. OUR FLT IS ACR XX THE OTHER ACFT, ALSO COMPANY WITH CALL SIGN OF ACR XY. BECAUSE WE ARE CARGO ACFT WE DO NOT HAVE TCASII. SUSIN IS 14 DME ON THE 147 DEG FROM CLM VOR. I FEEL THAT CALL SIGNS, DIFFERENT CTLRS CTLING SAME AREA, NO TCASII AND LANGUAGE CONTRIBUTED TO THIS NEAR MISS.
