Narrative:
On takeoff roll, takeoff warning horn sounded. Aircraft speed was 2-5 KTS, discontinued the takeoff. When clear of runway discovered stabilizer trim was improperly set. Reset stabilizer trim. Takeoff and rest of flight uneventful. Factors which led to improper situation: 1) aircraft proceeded out of gate to deicing area where the stabilizer trim was set for deicing, and 2) after deicing, the stabilizer trim was missed during the taxi checklist, due to unusual procedures (first deicing event of the yr, several communication frequencys were being switched and monitored, starting other engines after deicing). Recommendations: start all engines before deicing, try to keep from getting complacent, don't rush, even though you're trying to save the company money and deice hold over times from being exceeded.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLC EXPERIENCED TKOF WARNING WITH PWR APPLICATION BECAUSE THE STABILIZER TRIM WAS NOT SET IN THE TKOF RANGE. THE PRE TKOF DEICE PROCS PROVOKED THE OVERSIGHT.
Narrative: ON TKOF ROLL, TKOF WARNING HORN SOUNDED. ACFT SPD WAS 2-5 KTS, DISCONTINUED THE TKOF. WHEN CLR OF RWY DISCOVERED STABILIZER TRIM WAS IMPROPERLY SET. RESET STABILIZER TRIM. TKOF AND REST OF FLT UNEVENTFUL. FACTORS WHICH LED TO IMPROPER SIT: 1) ACFT PROCEEDED OUT OF GATE TO DEICING AREA WHERE THE STABILIZER TRIM WAS SET FOR DEICING, AND 2) AFTER DEICING, THE STABILIZER TRIM WAS MISSED DURING THE TAXI CHKLIST, DUE TO UNUSUAL PROCS (FIRST DEICING EVENT OF THE YR, SEVERAL COM FREQS WERE BEING SWITCHED AND MONITORED, STARTING OTHER ENGS AFTER DEICING). RECOMMENDATIONS: START ALL ENGS BEFORE DEICING, TRY TO KEEP FROM GETTING COMPLACENT, DON'T RUSH, EVEN THOUGH YOU'RE TRYING TO SAVE THE COMPANY MONEY AND DEICE HOLD OVER TIMES FROM BEING EXCEEDED.
