Narrative:

Tracking explained that ama was awaiting the equipment for a scheduled XA15 departure, ama-dfw, with another crew. I accepted his explanation and we jointly agreed on an XC30 am departure, lbb-ama, to achieve the required 8 hour crew rest. Flight XXX lbb-ama proceeded normally, though slightly delayed. Flight YYY, ama-dfw, also proceeded uneventfully. Duty day limit prevented us from flying the originally scheduled dfw-ind-dfw legs, so trip concluded at this point. At the time of the assignment to fly after only 8 hours crew rest, I was not aware that the 10 hour compensatory rest requirement applied, and was compulsory by FARS. I allowed this to happen by my ignorance of the compensatory rest requirement, my desire to be cooperative and helpful with the company's schedule requirements, and my assumption that crew tracking was at all times watching legalities. I know different now. I realize crew tracking erred when we were scheduled for less than 10 hours after the first night's minimal 8 hour crew rest. I understand I violated a regulatory requirement by accepting this schedule. This was entirely unintentional on my part.

Title: FLC FAILS TO GAIN THEIR MANDATORY 10 HR REST AFTER THE MINIMUM 8 HR REST.

Narrative: TRACKING EXPLAINED THAT AMA WAS AWAITING THE EQUIP FOR A SCHEDULED XA15 DEP, AMA-DFW, WITH ANOTHER CREW. I ACCEPTED HIS EXPLANATION AND WE JOINTLY AGREED ON AN XC30 AM DEP, LBB-AMA, TO ACHIEVE THE REQUIRED 8 HR CREW REST. FLT XXX LBB-AMA PROCEEDED NORMALLY, THOUGH SLIGHTLY DELAYED. FLT YYY, AMA-DFW, ALSO PROCEEDED UNEVENTFULLY. DUTY DAY LIMIT PREVENTED US FROM FLYING THE ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED DFW-IND-DFW LEGS, SO TRIP CONCLUDED AT THIS POINT. AT THE TIME OF THE ASSIGNMENT TO FLY AFTER ONLY 8 HRS CREW REST, I WAS NOT AWARE THAT THE 10 HR COMPENSATORY REST REQUIREMENT APPLIED, AND WAS COMPULSORY BY FARS. I REALIZE CREW TRACKING ERRED WHEN WE WERE SCHEDULED FOR LESS THAN 10 HRS AFTER THE FIRST NIGHT'S MINIMAL 8 HR CREW REST. I UNDERSTAND I VIOLATED A REGULATORY REQUIREMENT BY ACCEPTING THIS SCHEDULE. THIS WAS ENTIRELY UNINTENTIONAL ON MY PART.
