Narrative:
En route cvg-slc at 35000 ft over oma, received call from atl flight control of possible bomb threat. Passenger was overheard on phone in cvg prior to boarding talking about guns and or bomb in checked baggage on board our aircraft. Passenger was detained, questioned, and then released. After further investigation it was decided further questioning was needed, however, passenger had disappeared. His 4 bags were on board our flight! Diverted to mci after declaring of emergency by ATC. Directed to gate at terminal after landing, removed suspected bags. Sniffer dogs unable to provide positive indication of any material in any bags. Reboarded aircraft and continued to slc.

Title: FLC NOTIFIED SUSPICIOUS PAX TALKING ABOUT GUNS AND BOMB DETAINED AND QUESTIONED DISAPPEARED AND BAGS WERE ON BOARD. ATC DECLARED AN EMER. ACFT DIVERTED TO MCI. BAGS WERE REMOVED AND INSPECTED BY PEOPLE AND DOGS. NO PROBS WERE FOUND. ACFT CONTINUED TO DEST SLC WITHOUT FURTHER PROB.
Narrative: ENRTE CVG-SLC AT 35000 FT OVER OMA, RECEIVED CALL FROM ATL FLT CTL OF POSSIBLE BOMB THREAT. PAX WAS OVERHEARD ON PHONE IN CVG PRIOR TO BOARDING TALKING ABOUT GUNS AND OR BOMB IN CHKED BAGGAGE ON BOARD OUR ACFT. PAX WAS DETAINED, QUESTIONED, AND THEN RELEASED. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT WAS DECIDED FURTHER QUESTIONING WAS NEEDED, HOWEVER, PAX HAD DISAPPEARED. HIS 4 BAGS WERE ON BOARD OUR FLT! DIVERTED TO MCI AFTER DECLARING OF EMER BY ATC. DIRECTED TO GATE AT TERMINAL AFTER LNDG, REMOVED SUSPECTED BAGS. SNIFFER DOGS UNABLE TO PROVIDE POSITIVE INDICATION OF ANY MATERIAL IN ANY BAGS. REBOARDED ACFT AND CONTINUED TO SLC.
