Narrative:
Duat IFR flight plan filed and entered. Computer printout of IFR (sids, victor and STAR) to ads (addison, tx). Clearance given to alexandria, la. Eventually corrected on ground. First departure handoff continued to route to la, despite corrected clearance delivery sids, direct as filed. Duat system error?? Correctly entered on computer? Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states that his duat printout was correct with the proper identifier. Apparently clearance delivery made an error and mixed up the 2 identifiers. Alexandria is aex and addison is ads. Since this was in a printout it was not a problem hearing it wrong, but interpreting it wrong. What bothered reporter was that no one along the line in ATC seemed to expect him or know who he was. He of course had to refile prior to departure, on the ground, but things still got mixed up. Reporter has not had any follow up on the incident.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: RPTR FILED TO ADS, TX, BUT CLRED TO AEX, LA.
Narrative: DUAT IFR FLT PLAN FILED AND ENTERED. COMPUTER PRINTOUT OF IFR (SIDS, VICTOR AND STAR) TO ADS (ADDISON, TX). CLRNC GIVEN TO ALEXANDRIA, LA. EVENTUALLY CORRECTED ON GND. FIRST DEP HDOF CONTINUED TO RTE TO LA, DESPITE CORRECTED CLRNC DELIVERY SIDS, DIRECT AS FILED. DUAT SYS ERROR?? CORRECTLY ENTERED ON COMPUTER? CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES THAT HIS DUAT PRINTOUT WAS CORRECT WITH THE PROPER IDENTIFIER. APPARENTLY CLRNC DELIVERY MADE AN ERROR AND MIXED UP THE 2 IDENTIFIERS. ALEXANDRIA IS AEX AND ADDISON IS ADS. SINCE THIS WAS IN A PRINTOUT IT WAS NOT A PROB HEARING IT WRONG, BUT INTERPRETING IT WRONG. WHAT BOTHERED RPTR WAS THAT NO ONE ALONG THE LINE IN ATC SEEMED TO EXPECT HIM OR KNOW WHO HE WAS. HE OF COURSE HAD TO REFILE PRIOR TO DEP, ON THE GND, BUT THINGS STILL GOT MIXED UP. RPTR HAS NOT HAD ANY FOLLOW UP ON THE INCIDENT.
