Narrative:
We were cleared for the dorval 1 SID. However, the first officer and I both pulled out the dorval 3 SID. The dorval 1 requires a 280 degree heading and the dorval 3 requires a 315 degree heading. As soon as we called departure he gave us a 320 degree heading and asked us which SID we were flying. We then noticed the mistake and the difference between the 2 sids. ATC said there was no problem. We should have caught the difference. I would like to suggest that one of these departures be changed to a name other than dorval 1 and dorval 3. Supplemental information from acn 332330: the captain and I mistakenly flew the dorval 3 departure which is for turboprops only.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR MD80 FLC MISTAKENLY FLEW THE WRONG SID. THE SID THAT THEY HAD BEEN ASSIGNED HAD THE SAME NAME AS THE SID FOR TURBOPROP DEPS. THE DEP CTLR INTERVENED AND ASSIGNED A NEW HDG.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR THE DORVAL 1 SID. HOWEVER, THE FO AND I BOTH PULLED OUT THE DORVAL 3 SID. THE DORVAL 1 REQUIRES A 280 DEG HDG AND THE DORVAL 3 REQUIRES A 315 DEG HDG. AS SOON AS WE CALLED DEP HE GAVE US A 320 DEG HDG AND ASKED US WHICH SID WE WERE FLYING. WE THEN NOTICED THE MISTAKE AND THE DIFFERENCE BTWN THE 2 SIDS. ATC SAID THERE WAS NO PROB. WE SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT THE DIFFERENCE. I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST THAT ONE OF THESE DEPS BE CHANGED TO A NAME OTHER THAN DORVAL 1 AND DORVAL 3. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 332330: THE CAPT AND I MISTAKENLY FLEW THE DORVAL 3 DEP WHICH IS FOR TURBOPROPS ONLY.
