Narrative:
28 DME east of lax descending on the ILS to runway 25L, ATC pointed out traffic at approximately 10 O'clock. About 1 min later TCASII went TA and I inquired about the traffic to ATC and he said to maintain current altitude which was approximately 9000 ft MSL. When the TCASII went RA, we followed, and it lasted 3-4 seconds. I never saw the traffic as I was PF, but the first officer did. Looking at the class B lax chart, this happened outside class B airspace. Supplemental information from acn 333010: we climbed about 300 ft prior to getting a clear of conflict and resuming the descent. I saw aircraft about 1 mi in front and slightly low passing south to north across our flight path. We passed about 1 mi behind and about 300 ft above. Small twin never changed course due to our proximity during the time or our closest approach.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: WHILE DSNDING ON THE GS OF RWY 25L AT LAX, AN MD80 FLC RECEIVED A TCASII RA. THE FLC CLBED 300 FT BEFORE SIGHTING THE TFC. THE TFC PASSED 300 FT BELOW THE ACR AND WAS OUTSIDE OF CLASS B AIRSPACE.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 333010: WE CLBED ABOUT 300 FT PRIOR TO GETTING A CLR OF CONFLICT AND RESUMING THE DSCNT. I SAW ACFT ABOUT 1 MI IN FRONT AND SLIGHTLY LOW PASSING S TO N ACROSS OUR FLT PATH. WE PASSED ABOUT 1 MI BEHIND AND ABOUT 300 FT ABOVE. SMALL TWIN NEVER CHANGED COURSE DUE TO OUR PROX DURING THE TIME OR OUR CLOSEST APCH.
