Narrative:
A student was being instructed during the flare portion of landing and flared too high. Instructor assumed control by saying, 'I've got the plane' but student froze with left rudder and yoke full back and instructor was unable to gain control before touchdown. No rudder authority/authorized right before touchdown caused aircraft to veer left into the grass at which point student let go the aircraft. Instructor continued rollback to runway with no damage to airport and only tail tiedown scraped on aircraft. Tower and ground made no mention of event to aircraft.
