Narrative:

Pilot (myself) failed to lower the landing gear for landing. I made a straight-in approach with a long descent from 9500 ft. The gear warning horn was on for about 5 mins and I guess I became unaware of it. I was distraction at a critical time by traffic entering on downwind. Straight-in approachs should be discouraged. Gear then is down opposite touchdown. All my time is retract except about 250 hours in piper cub/cessna from way back.
