Narrative:
On the ramp in cle the deicing crew checked in on company frequency. I requested that wings and tail be deiced and asked that a good post deicing check be performed. Crew reported deicing completed and wings clear of frost and ice. I asked if a post deicing check had been completed. The crew replied that they did not know what I was talking about. I described the physical post deicing check, with the pole and the ladder. The crew replied that they had never done a post deicing check before and did not know it was required. Pole retrieved from gate area (no pole was on deicing truck for this off gate deicing). Proper post deicing check completed.
