Narrative:
At approximately XX15 on jun/thu/96 at approximately 300-400 ft AGL, aircraft experienced a partial power loss. Altitude, location and inability to maintain altitude precluded return to airport. Existing conditions and location dictated nearby road (county highway Q) as only safe and reasonable landing area. Road was clear of traffic for a considerable distance, and uneventful landing was accomplished, with no injury and no damage of any kind. Aircraft was then pushed clear of roadway with no interruption to traffic. Aircraft was later towed to airport. Cause and resolution of engine problem unknown at this time. Decision time extremely limited due to continuous loss of altitude.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT OF CESSNA 150 MADE AN OFF ARPT FORCED LNDG DUE TO LOSS OF PARTIAL ENG PWR DURING INITIAL CLB AFTER TKOF. ACFT WAS LANDED ON ROAD WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE ACFT OR INJURY TO THE OCCUPANTS.
Narrative: AT APPROX XX15 ON JUN/THU/96 AT APPROX 300-400 FT AGL, ACFT EXPERIENCED A PARTIAL PWR LOSS. ALT, LOCATION AND INABILITY TO MAINTAIN ALT PRECLUDED RETURN TO ARPT. EXISTING CONDITIONS AND LOCATION DICTATED NEARBY ROAD (COUNTY HWY Q) AS ONLY SAFE AND REASONABLE LNDG AREA. ROAD WAS CLR OF TFC FOR A CONSIDERABLE DISTANCE, AND UNEVENTFUL LNDG WAS ACCOMPLISHED, WITH NO INJURY AND NO DAMAGE OF ANY KIND. ACFT WAS THEN PUSHED CLR OF ROADWAY WITH NO INTERRUPTION TO TFC. ACFT WAS LATER TOWED TO ARPT. CAUSE AND RESOLUTION OF ENG PROB UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME. DECISION TIME EXTREMELY LIMITED DUE TO CONTINUOUS LOSS OF ALT.
