Narrative:

While programming FMC for flight from stx (tisx) to bwi, tist (stt) was inadvertently entered as departure station. Since it is 40 mi away from stx (tisx), we ended up approximately 30 mi south of course by the time ZDC picked us up on radar, south of egc. Note flight inbound had come from tist (stt). Supplemental information from acn 339752: controller noticed error (29 NM south of course) when radar contact was established east of elizabeth city, nc.
