Narrative:

Re-rted south of intended arrival to bwi due to significant WX on east coast. Given a southeast heading to intercept J8 to csn. Programmed FMC for direct intercept to csn. Both pilots conferred and agreed on FMC inputs. ATC told us that the intercept would be a sharp turn. Looked good on FMC since we thought ATC wanted an intercept north of rhode intersection. J8 bends west to hvq at rhode and the direct intercept to csn therefore took us through the airway. ATC caught it and we turned back to the east to intercept. A clearance to intercept east of crw or between crw and rhode would have clued us to note the bend in the airway.
