Narrative:

On approach to clt, we were being vectored to intercept the localizer runway 36R. In contact with initial approach control we were given numerous heading, altitude and airspeed changes, which I believe helped to add a little confusion to the approach phase of the flight. After being cleared to intercept localizer runway 36R, I mistakenly dialed in the frequency to runway 36L. As we overshot the localizer, the final controller gave us an immediate heading change to the right to reintercept localizer runway 36R. The rest of the approach and landing were routine, with no further incident. Supplemental information from acn 340390: having been on vacation for a month, I had advised the first officer to watch me very carefully until warming up on SOP. That said, I did not follow through checking the frequency for runway 36R (he had selected 111.7 which is the runway 36L frequency). I was watching the TCASII display and noticed we were less than 3 NM from traffic ahead and queried the local controller, at which time they realized that we had inadvertently dialed in the runway 36L localizer.

Title: A B737-300 FLC DISCOVERED THAT THEY HAD MISTUNED THE LOC FREQ FOR THE L RWY INSTEAD OF THE R RWY. WHEN THE PNF NOTED TFC LESS THAN 3 NM AHEAD ON THE TCASII DISPLAY, HE QUERIED THE CTLR WHO ISSUED A NEW HDG BACK TO THE R RWY APCH COURSE.

Narrative: ON APCH TO CLT, WE WERE BEING VECTORED TO INTERCEPT THE LOC RWY 36R. IN CONTACT WITH INITIAL APCH CTL WE WERE GIVEN NUMEROUS HEADING, ALT AND AIRSPD CHANGES, WHICH I BELIEVE HELPED TO ADD A LITTLE CONFUSION TO THE APCH PHASE OF THE FLT. AFTER BEING CLRED TO INTERCEPT LOC RWY 36R, I MISTAKENLY DIALED IN THE FREQ TO RWY 36L. AS WE OVERSHOT THE LOC, THE FINAL CTLR GAVE US AN IMMEDIATE HEADING CHANGE TO THE R TO REINTERCEPT LOC RWY 36R. THE REST OF THE APCH AND LNDG WERE ROUTINE, WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 340390: HAVING BEEN ON VACATION FOR A MONTH, I HAD ADVISED THE FO TO WATCH ME VERY CAREFULLY UNTIL WARMING UP ON SOP. THAT SAID, I DID NOT FOLLOW THROUGH CHKING THE FREQ FOR RWY 36R (HE HAD SELECTED 111.7 WHICH IS THE RWY 36L FREQ). I WAS WATCHING THE TCASII DISPLAY AND NOTICED WE WERE LESS THAN 3 NM FROM TFC AHEAD AND QUERIED THE LCL CTLR, AT WHICH TIME THEY REALIZED THAT WE HAD INADVERTENTLY DIALED IN THE RWY 36L LOC.
