Narrative:
Normal departure from phx egl 3, SID. I was told to continue on departure and to expect a heading to winslow, az. When we reached eagul intersection we turned toward winslow since no heading was assigned. The controller asked if we were assigned a previous heading, I replied 'no sir,' he gave us a heading for tulluride. 20 mins later we were instructed to call center upon landing. ZAB claims we were assigned a heading before eagul intersection and that we broke a clearance. ZAB replied, they would not pursue this. To the best of my knowledge, I did not hear the clearance ZAB claims to have given.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ATC FLC MISCOM. CTLR HAD TOLD FLC HE WOULD GIVE THEM A HDG AT EGL, AND WHEN HE DIDN'T, FLC TURNED DIRECT TO NEXT POINT. AFTER FREQ CHANGE THE NEXT CTLR QUERIED FLC ABOUT A HDG ASSIGNMENT AND HAD THEM CONTACT CTR AFTER LNDG.
Narrative: NORMAL DEP FROM PHX EGL 3, SID. I WAS TOLD TO CONTINUE ON DEP AND TO EXPECT A HDG TO WINSLOW, AZ. WHEN WE REACHED EAGUL INTXN WE TURNED TOWARD WINSLOW SINCE NO HDG WAS ASSIGNED. THE CTLR ASKED IF WE WERE ASSIGNED A PREVIOUS HDG, I REPLIED 'NO SIR,' HE GAVE US A HDG FOR TULLURIDE. 20 MINS LATER WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO CALL CTR UPON LNDG. ZAB CLAIMS WE WERE ASSIGNED A HDG BEFORE EAGUL INTXN AND THAT WE BROKE A CLRNC. ZAB REPLIED, THEY WOULD NOT PURSUE THIS. TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, I DID NOT HEAR THE CLRNC ZAB CLAIMS TO HAVE GIVEN.
