Narrative:
Aircraft flashing at wrong sector. Aircraft routed to destination, switched to wrong sector. Internal procedures allow for a 'redirect' to another internal sector and authority/authorized a descent, in another controller's airspace, thinking the redirect was being used. It was not. Lack of coordination from ZID on the direct routing. Automation problem: not flashing at the appropriate arrival controller. This problem could lead to a sysecond officerperational error!
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CTR CTLR REROUTED AN ARR ON A NON COORDINATED RTE AND DID NOT CHANGE THE COMPUTER FIXED PAIRS FOR THE RTE CAUSING A MISDIRECTED HDOF TO TRACON. VERBAL INTERFACILITY COORD WAS NOT ACCOMPLISHED BY THE CTR SECTOR PRIOR TO HDOF. RECEIVING TRACON CTLR DSNDED THE FLT BELIEVING THAT IT HAD BEEN REDIRECTED AND HANDED OFF VIA INTRAFAC PROCS.
Narrative: ACFT FLASHING AT WRONG SECTOR. ACFT ROUTED TO DEST, SWITCHED TO WRONG SECTOR. INTERNAL PROCS ALLOW FOR A 'REDIRECT' TO ANOTHER INTERNAL SECTOR AND AUTH A DSCNT, IN ANOTHER CTLR'S AIRSPACE, THINKING THE REDIRECT WAS BEING USED. IT WAS NOT. LACK OF COORD FROM ZID ON THE DIRECT ROUTING. AUTOMATION PROB: NOT FLASHING AT THE APPROPRIATE ARR CTLR. THIS PROB COULD LEAD TO A SYS/OPERATIONAL ERROR!
