Narrative:

On an IFR departure out of teb I was vectored to the west to climb above newark arrs before being turned east. My clearance was to 6000 ft. At 5000 ft the airplane would climb no more. For about 30 seconds it was going no higher. Ny approach advised me of my clearance to 6000 ft. I acknowledged and about 5 seconds later was able to resume climb. The nearest convective activity was about 20 mi away and wasn't particularly strong (tops less than FL300). I can think of no other explanation.
