Narrative:

On dropping off cargo in roc and refueling, the right starter fail to engaged the engine. On taxiing the aircraft over to FBO, the mechanic found a problem with the starter generator. My company wanted to get the aircraft back to yip as soon as possible. The mechanic managed to get the starter to work, but the generator didn't work correctly at first, but worked better as it ran. The mechanic stated to the director of maintenance for my company that the aircraft needed a new starter generator. I forgot to list the discrepancy in the logbook, mostly due to this being the third all-nighter in 4 nights. I also was very concerned with the WX -- a line of level 5 thunderstorms had moved into the area and stopped my departure. On finally getting back to yip I read the bill from the FBO. The mechanic had stated the aircraft was not approved for return to service. I had flown the aircraft from roc-yip with that write- up. I believe part of the problem is with the flight hours that are all with supplemental/135 and my company poor ground school as no information in regards to writing up discrepancy and finding my first officer had not been trained to do a weight and balance and had not having landed the aircraft during his flight training possibly led to my distraction with the paperwork.
