Narrative:

At pushback was advised by the a flight attendant that the C flight attendant could see daylight through the 2L door. We had normal light indication on the annunciator panel and advised them to open and shut the 2L door again. They did and the annunciator panel showed all doors locked. We advised them it must just be the door seal, that this was normal and it happens all the time (which it does) and that it would close after takeoff as the aircraft pressurized. Well, I put my foot in my mouth because wouldn't you know it that after takeoff the aircraft would not pressurize and we had to return to the gate because of that door. The only thing we could have done differently, is gone back to visually check the door myself. I have learned to never assume anything!
