Narrative:
Night VMC prevailed at time of incident. As customary at mia, when our aircraft approached runway 09R threshold for departure, ground control instructed us to monitor tower frequency. Upon switching, tower instructed us to taxi into position and hold runway 09R. Traffic on a 10 mi final. We immediately complied. After holding in position, tower began issuing takeoff clearance for runway 12 which intersects runway 09R. Approximately 1 min after being cleared into position and hold, the first officer queried tower about our status. Tower then instructed us to clear the runway immediately. This action was accomplished without delay, and as soon as I cleared the approach area, we noticed a B737 overfly approach lights of runway 09R. As the B737 crossed the threshold, I was finishing the 270 degree maneuver to reposition myself for holding short of the runway. About 10 seconds elapsed from the time tower instructed us to leave the runway for the other aircraft crossing the threshold. When I questioned, tower reply was, 'thank you.'

Title: THE SAFETY OFFICER OF A FOREIGN ACR RPTS THAT ONE OF HIS B737-200 ACFT WAS HOLDING IN POS ON RWY 09R AT MIA WHEN A B737 OF ANOTHER FOREIGN ACR WAS CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 09R. WHEN QUERIED ON THIS, THE ATCT LCL CTLR DEMANDED THAT THE RPTR CLR THE RWY IMMEDIATELY. NIGHT OP.
Narrative: NIGHT VMC PREVAILED AT TIME OF INCIDENT. AS CUSTOMARY AT MIA, WHEN OUR ACFT APCHED RWY 09R THRESHOLD FOR DEP, GND CTL INSTRUCTED US TO MONITOR TWR FREQ.
