Narrative:

While executing visual approach, was told to contact tower. I channeled tower frequency in radio but did not 'channelize' correctly. I called approach control and advised we were on downwind. I'm not sure what the response was, but I guess it must have been 'roger.' we landed while still on approach control frequency, assuming we were cleared to land.

Title: AN ACR ATR72 CAPT RPTS THAT HE LANDED WITHOUT CLRNC WHILE TALKING TO TRACON APCH CTL. ACFT EQUIP PROB RADIO WOULD NOT CHANNELIZE OR FLC TECHNIQUE RADIO TUNING.

Narrative: WHILE EXECUTING VISUAL APCH, WAS TOLD TO CONTACT TWR. I CHANNELED TWR FREQ IN RADIO BUT DID NOT 'CHANNELIZE' CORRECTLY. I CALLED APCH CTL AND ADVISED WE WERE ON DOWNWIND.
