Narrative:

During climb to FL190, the first officer's R-1 window outer pane shattered with a loud bang. We leveled off and completed the appropriate abnormal procedure and referred to the briefing bulletin on the subject. The bottom line is that you can continue if you can avoid icing conditions. Dispatch said dfw was not an option due to icing conditions but msp and ord were acceptable and the choice was mine. I elected to divert to ord for 2 reasons: 1) multiple flts to dfw for our passenger and 2) availability of parts and mechanics to repair the airplane. After gate arrival, several passenger wanted to see the shattered window and I took the time to talk to all of the concerned passenger and assured them we were not in any danger. This occurred during the final stages of the parking checklist. The first officer handed the logbook to me and I neglected to make the appropriate entry. Maintenance met us as we deplaned and I briefed the 2 mechanics. We had a tight connection to dhd to dfw to pick up our trip and I realized after arriving at the other gate that I had neglected to write-up the window but the aircraft was on its way to the hangar. Properly completing the E-6 is my responsibility and it was a careless oversight. In the future, I will do 2 things to prevent this from recurring: 1) leave the cockpit door closed till the parking checklist is complete and 2) stop the checklist at that point until the logbook is properly completed.
