Narrative:

We contacted ground control. We were told to taxi to runway 1R, but to hold short of the runway 27 intersection. We discussed the taxi instructions and route before beginning our taxi out. As we approached the intersection of runway 27, which was a right turn from our position, we were instructed 'cleared to cross.' we were already in the right turn and preparing to stop and hold short when we received the 'cleared to cross' instructions. The voice was different. There had been a ground controller change during our taxi out. We did not know this until we were cleared to cross. We crossed runway 27 en route to runway 1R, our original taxi instructions. After crossing runway 27, the new controller told us that we were supposed to cross runway 1R and not runway 27. As we crossed runway 27, we noticed an aircraft taxiing into position at the end of runway 27. There was no conflict or evasive action necessary. My opinion is that there was confusion between the 2 controllers on ground during the shift change which occurred during our taxi. Also, we were originally told to taxi to runway 1R and hold short of runway 27, so we were focused on crossing runway 27, not runway 1R. When the controller said cleared to cross, we had runway 27 in our minds, and he had runway 1R in his. I think a more thorough controller brief between shift change and explicit instructions as well as readback would have kept this incident from happening.

Title: AN ACR MD80 WAS GIVEN TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 27 AT TXWY F. THEY DID THIS. THE NEXT GND CTLR TOLD THEM 'CLRED TO CROSS' EXPECTING THE RPTRS TO CROSS RWY 1. THE RPTRS CROSSED RWY 27 AS PREVIOUSLY CLRED CREATING AN ANXIOUS MOMENT IN THE ATCT.

Narrative: WE CONTACTED GND CTL. WE WERE TOLD TO TAXI TO RWY 1R, BUT TO HOLD SHORT OF THE RWY 27 INTXN. WE DISCUSSED THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS AND RTE BEFORE BEGINNING OUR TAXI OUT. AS WE APCHED THE INTXN OF RWY 27, WHICH WAS A R TURN FROM OUR POS, WE WERE INSTRUCTED 'CLRED TO CROSS.' WE WERE ALREADY IN THE R TURN AND PREPARING TO STOP AND HOLD SHORT WHEN WE RECEIVED THE 'CLRED TO CROSS' INSTRUCTIONS. THE VOICE WAS DIFFERENT. THERE HAD BEEN A GND CTLR CHANGE DURING OUR TAXI OUT. WE DID NOT KNOW THIS UNTIL WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS. WE CROSSED RWY 27 ENRTE TO RWY 1R, OUR ORIGINAL TAXI INSTRUCTIONS. AFTER XING RWY 27, THE NEW CTLR TOLD US THAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO CROSS RWY 1R AND NOT RWY 27. AS WE CROSSED RWY 27, WE NOTICED AN ACFT TAXIING INTO POS AT THE END OF RWY 27. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT OR EVASIVE ACTION NECESSARY. MY OPINION IS THAT THERE WAS CONFUSION BTWN THE 2 CTLRS ON GND DURING THE SHIFT CHANGE WHICH OCCURRED DURING OUR TAXI. ALSO, WE WERE ORIGINALLY TOLD TO TAXI TO RWY 1R AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 27, SO WE WERE FOCUSED ON XING RWY 27, NOT RWY 1R. WHEN THE CTLR SAID CLRED TO CROSS, WE HAD RWY 27 IN OUR MINDS, AND HE HAD RWY 1R IN HIS. I THINK A MORE THOROUGH CTLR BRIEF BTWN SHIFT CHANGE AND EXPLICIT INSTRUCTIONS AS WELL AS READBACK WOULD HAVE KEPT THIS INCIDENT FROM HAPPENING.
