Narrative:

My first officer was on his 5TH continuous duty overnight or what we call standup overnights. I was on my 3RD. I'm sure you know what these are, but in case you don't, these are late night flts where you spend about 6 hours at the hotel before you fly out early in the morning. Don't bother laying down in other words. Well, the first one you do is no problem. The second one you're a vegetable. The 3RD one you're dangerous! My first officer was in oblivion that morning and I was dangerous and just when we were supposedly getting done they told us we had to test flight an airplane when we got to our domicile. Well if we would have called fatigue it would of docked our pay. If we would called sick it would come out of our sick bank. Seeing how this company schedules us like this all the time you can see this is a nice catch 22. Also, if you do call in sick or fatigue too often, which the limit changes all the time, you can be fired! Well, I thought at least I was all right and since there were no passenger and this would be a short flight, no problem. Right. Wrong! Fatigue is about insidious as breathing carbon monoxide. When ATC asked what we wanted to do we told them a short hop to 5000 ft and come back in. They said ok and plan runway 22L for landing. We set in the navigation frequencys for runway 22L and took off. The test hop went well and advised ATC we were ready to come back in. They then started vectoring us back to the field for runway 2R. They asked if we had the field in sight which we did, and then cleared us per the visual approach for runway 22R. I was flying and had the autoplt on. I then turned on approach mode on the autoplt and it captured runway 22L. I've been flying out of here for 12 yrs, but being so tired and looking at the wrong runway I didn't even see my mistake. ATC had to query me 3 times before I realized it and landed on the right runway. Help us please! The proposed duty regulations do not even take your report into account and the proposal is wrong. Just ask pilot organization. Also, this is one of numerous reports of mine due to fatigue.

Narrative: MY FO WAS ON HIS 5TH CONTINUOUS DUTY OVERNIGHT OR WHAT WE CALL STANDUP OVERNIGHTS. I WAS ON MY 3RD. I'M SURE YOU KNOW WHAT THESE ARE, BUT IN CASE YOU DON'T, THESE ARE LATE NIGHT FLTS WHERE YOU SPEND ABOUT 6 HRS AT THE HOTEL BEFORE YOU FLY OUT EARLY IN THE MORNING. DON'T BOTHER LAYING DOWN IN OTHER WORDS. WELL, THE FIRST ONE YOU DO IS NO PROB. THE SECOND ONE YOU'RE A VEGETABLE. THE 3RD ONE YOU'RE DANGEROUS! MY FO WAS IN OBLIVION THAT MORNING AND I WAS DANGEROUS AND JUST WHEN WE WERE SUPPOSEDLY GETTING DONE THEY TOLD US WE HAD TO TEST FLT AN AIRPLANE WHEN WE GOT TO OUR DOMICILE. WELL, I THOUGHT AT LEAST I WAS ALL RIGHT AND SINCE THERE WERE NO PAX AND THIS WOULD BE A SHORT FLT, NO PROB. RIGHT. WRONG! FATIGUE IS ABOUT INSIDIOUS AS BREATHING CARBON MONOXIDE. WHEN ATC ASKED WHAT WE WANTED TO DO WE TOLD THEM A SHORT HOP TO 5000 FT AND COME BACK IN. THEY SAID OK AND PLAN RWY 22L FOR LNDG. WE SET IN THE NAV FREQS FOR RWY 22L AND TOOK OFF. THE TEST HOP WENT WELL AND ADVISED ATC WE WERE READY TO COME BACK IN. THEY THEN STARTED VECTORING US BACK TO THE FIELD FOR RWY 2R. THEY ASKED IF WE HAD THE FIELD IN SIGHT WHICH WE DID, AND THEN CLRED US PER THE VISUAL APCH FOR RWY 22R. I WAS FLYING AND HAD THE AUTOPLT ON. I THEN TURNED ON APCH MODE ON THE AUTOPLT AND IT CAPTURED RWY 22L. I'VE BEEN FLYING OUT OF HERE FOR 12 YRS, BUT BEING SO TIRED AND LOOKING AT THE WRONG RWY I DIDN'T EVEN SEE MY MISTAKE. ATC HAD TO QUERY ME 3 TIMES BEFORE I REALIZED IT AND LANDED ON THE RIGHT RWY. HELP US PLEASE! THE PROPOSED DUTY REGS DO NOT EVEN TAKE YOUR RPT INTO ACCOUNT AND THE PROPOSAL IS WRONG. JUST ASK PLT ORGANIZATION. ALSO, THIS IS ONE OF NUMEROUS RPTS OF MINE DUE TO FATIGUE.
