Narrative:

We were level at 7000 ft. A king air behind us was asked if he had us in sight. He said he did. He was then told to 'maintain visual separation with the brasilia, descend and maintain 7000 ft.' the king air continued to descend even though he lost sight of us. We took evasive action when the king air was descending through 7300 ft in front of us about 300 ft. We descended 400 ft in a right hand turn. When the king air was sufficiently out of the way, we returned to our original clearance. As soon as the king air pilot lost sight of us, he should have told ATC to get a vector away from us. His decision to continue was extremely dangerous and inappropriate. This action, (or inaction), shows a complete lack of good judgement and situational awareness.

Title: KING AIR TOLD TO MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION WITH BRASILIA. HE LOST VISUAL AND CONTINUED DSCNT ANYHOW CAUSING AN NMAC. EMB120. BE10.

Narrative: WE WERE LEVEL AT 7000 FT. A KING AIR BEHIND US WAS ASKED IF HE HAD US IN SIGHT. HE SAID HE DID. HE WAS THEN TOLD TO 'MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION WITH THE BRASILIA, DSND AND MAINTAIN 7000 FT.' THE KING AIR CONTINUED TO DSND EVEN THOUGH HE LOST SIGHT OF US. WE TOOK EVASIVE ACTION WHEN THE KING AIR WAS DSNDING THROUGH 7300 FT IN FRONT OF US ABOUT 300 FT. WE DSNDED 400 FT IN A R HAND TURN. WHEN THE KING AIR WAS SUFFICIENTLY OUT OF THE WAY, WE RETURNED TO OUR ORIGINAL CLRNC. AS SOON AS THE KING AIR PLT LOST SIGHT OF US, HE SHOULD HAVE TOLD ATC TO GET A VECTOR AWAY FROM US. HIS DECISION TO CONTINUE WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND INAPPROPRIATE. THIS ACTION, (OR INACTION), SHOWS A COMPLETE LACK OF GOOD JUDGEMENT AND SITUATIONAL AWARENESS.
