Narrative:
On base turn for approach to bna runway 20R, approach advised us that a 'crusader' was on a vector to our right. During the ensuing turn to final and runway visual acknowledgement, TCASII RA gave a 'traffic, climb' command. Approach cleared us for visual and began urgent heading commands to the crusader which were ignored. In the confusion of the near miss avoidance maneuvering and recapture of approach profile, we never switched from approach control to bna tower for final clearance to land. Landing and taxi were uneventful. Tower acknowledged the confusion and stated 'no problem' to the clearance oversight.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR B757 RPTS AN NMAC IN THE BNA TFC PATTERN WITH A CESSNA CRUSADER. AFTER EVASIVE ACTION CLB AND OTHER MANEUVERING, THE RPTR LANDED WITHOUT CLRNC. ERROR ADMITTED.
Narrative: ON BASE TURN FOR APCH TO BNA RWY 20R, APCH ADVISED US THAT A 'CRUSADER' WAS ON A VECTOR TO OUR R. DURING THE ENSUING TURN TO FINAL AND RWY VISUAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, TCASII RA GAVE A 'TFC, CLB' COMMAND. APCH CLRED US FOR VISUAL AND BEGAN URGENT HDG COMMANDS TO THE CRUSADER WHICH WERE IGNORED. IN THE CONFUSION OF THE NEAR MISS AVOIDANCE MANEUVERING AND RECAPTURE OF APCH PROFILE, WE NEVER SWITCHED FROM APCH CTL TO BNA TWR FOR FINAL CLRNC TO LAND. LNDG AND TAXI WERE UNEVENTFUL. TWR ACKNOWLEDGED THE CONFUSION AND STATED 'NO PROB' TO THE CLRNC OVERSIGHT.
