Narrative:
We were cleared for takeoff runway 25R, LAX2 departure, commuter express on runway 25L was cleared for takeoff right after us. ATC told them to maintain visual separation with air carrier departing runway 25R. At approximately 1000 ft AGL we got a RA from the TCASII, giving us vertical guidance, monitor vertical climb. The RA on the navigation display showed right over our aircraft, plus 300 ft climbing. We adjusted our vertical climb. No one in front of us. Looked back in our 7-8 O'clock position and I saw the commuter express aircraft. This was at a very critical phase of flight. I feel the ATC and the commuter express pilot as at fault, not to establish a safe departure interval behind the aircraft in front, both flying runway heading. On a visual approach it is the pilot's responsibility to establish the safe landing interval behind the aircraft he was instructed to follow. I could not find anything about visual departures. When aircraft depart that way in sfo on runway 1's, ATC will give heading to fly to keep a safe interval between aircraft. Lax ATC did nothing. Very unsafe. Let's find a fix. Thank you. Captain of A320.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A320 DEPART RWY 25R LAX. COMMUTER EXPRESS DEPART RWY 25L TO MAINTAIN VISUAL ON TFC OFF RWY 25R. A320 GOT TCASII RA ALERT AND SAW TFC 7-8 O'CLOCK COMMUTER EXPRESS. REDUCED CLB RATE FOR FURTHER SEPARATION. NO COMMENT FROM CTLR.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF RWY 25R, LAX2 DEP, COMMUTER EXPRESS ON RWY 25L WAS CLRED FOR TKOF RIGHT AFTER US. ATC TOLD THEM TO MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION WITH ACR DEPARTING RWY 25R. AT APPROX 1000 FT AGL WE GOT A RA FROM THE TCASII, GIVING US VERT GUIDANCE, MONITOR VERT CLB. THE RA ON THE NAV DISPLAY SHOWED RIGHT OVER OUR ACFT, PLUS 300 FT CLBING. WE ADJUSTED OUR VERT CLB. NO ONE IN FRONT OF US. LOOKED BACK IN OUR 7-8 O'CLOCK POS AND I SAW THE COMMUTER EXPRESS ACFT. THIS WAS AT A VERY CRITICAL PHASE OF FLT. I FEEL THE ATC AND THE COMMUTER EXPRESS PLT AS AT FAULT, NOT TO ESTABLISH A SAFE DEP INTERVAL BEHIND THE ACFT IN FRONT, BOTH FLYING RWY HEADING. ON A VISUAL APCH IT IS THE PLT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO ESTABLISH THE SAFE LNDG INTERVAL BEHIND THE ACFT HE WAS INSTRUCTED TO FOLLOW. I COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING ABOUT VISUAL DEPS. WHEN ACFT DEPART THAT WAY IN SFO ON RWY 1'S, ATC WILL GIVE HEADING TO FLY TO KEEP A SAFE INTERVAL BTWN ACFT. LAX ATC DID NOTHING. VERY UNSAFE. LET'S FIND A FIX. THANK YOU. CAPT OF A320.
