Narrative:
WW24 heading 020 degrees climbing to 10000 ft. N265 heading 100 degrees to join 082 degree radial climbing to 10000 ft. WW24 should have been issued turn behind traffic or climb before occurrence. Dfw metroplex airspace requires dal departures to climb higher to avoid dfw/east satellite arrs. Conflict alert activated but this is often a nuisance alert. I was quick-looking one sector and was displayed traffic from 2 sectors at the time. It took a few seconds to determine who was in conflict. The video map was set on feeder/arrival and not departure when I assumed the position and I hadn't had time to change it. The airport supervisor instructed me to make an ARTS confign entry which caused me to look away from the radar display. Traffic was steady and complex due to crossing traffic at the time.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LTSS BTWN WW24 AND N265 AT THE SAME ALT. OPERROR.
Narrative: WW24 HDG 020 DEGS CLBING TO 10000 FT. N265 HDG 100 DEGS TO JOIN 082 DEG RADIAL CLBING TO 10000 FT. WW24 SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED TURN BEHIND TFC OR CLB BEFORE OCCURRENCE. DFW METROPLEX AIRSPACE REQUIRES DAL DEPS TO CLB HIGHER TO AVOID DFW/EAST SATELLITE ARRS. CONFLICT ALERT ACTIVATED BUT THIS IS OFTEN A NUISANCE ALERT. I WAS QUICK-LOOKING ONE SECTOR AND WAS DISPLAYED TFC FROM 2 SECTORS AT THE TIME. IT TOOK A FEW SECONDS TO DETERMINE WHO WAS IN CONFLICT. THE VIDEO MAP WAS SET ON FEEDER/ARR AND NOT DEP WHEN I ASSUMED THE POS AND I HADN'T HAD TIME TO CHANGE IT. THE ARPT SUPVR INSTRUCTED ME TO MAKE AN ARTS CONFIGN ENTRY WHICH CAUSED ME TO LOOK AWAY FROM THE RADAR DISPLAY. TFC WAS STEADY AND COMPLEX DUE TO XING TFC AT THE TIME.
