Narrative:

We were issued a descent clearance at pilot discretion from FL190 to 15000 ft. We began the 'descent check.' at 16000 ft we made the '1000 ft' call. The autoplt did not capture at 15000 ft, and continued to descend. At approximately 14500 ft, the descent was stopped and we initiated a climb. The controller questioned us about our altitude and then told us to 'continue descent to 9000 ft.' we had not reset the local altimeter. We continued down and then were told to contact bgm approach. We continued to bgm without further incident. Possible cause: failure of autoplt to capture, resetting of local altimeter, crew distracted. Solutions could be better crew awareness.

Title: AN ACR MDT CREW DSNDED THROUGH ITS ASSIGNED ALT. ALTDEV. ERROR ADMITTED. PLT DISCRETION CLRNC.

Narrative: WE WERE ISSUED A DSCNT CLRNC AT PLT DISCRETION FROM FL190 TO 15000 FT. WE BEGAN THE 'DSCNT CHK.' AT 16000 FT WE MADE THE '1000 FT' CALL. THE AUTOPLT DID NOT CAPTURE AT 15000 FT, AND CONTINUED TO DSND. AT APPROX 14500 FT, THE DSCNT WAS STOPPED AND WE INITIATED A CLB. THE CTLR QUESTIONED US ABOUT OUR ALT AND THEN TOLD US TO 'CONTINUE DSCNT TO 9000 FT.' WE HAD NOT RESET THE LCL ALTIMETER. WE CONTINUED DOWN AND THEN WERE TOLD TO CONTACT BGM APCH. WE CONTINUED TO BGM WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. POSSIBLE CAUSE: FAILURE OF AUTOPLT TO CAPTURE, RESETTING OF LCL ALTIMETER, CREW DISTRACTED. SOLUTIONS COULD BE BETTER CREW AWARENESS.
