Narrative:
Climbing out from sjo passing through about 6000 ft got TCASII TA and visual contact with a light twin about 500 ft above us. Leveled off to avoid target. Approach control did not know anything about traffic in the area. Subsequently approach admitted to knowing about the traffic.

Title: AN ACR B757 FLC GETS A TCASII 'TA' AND SEE A LIGHT TWIN ENGINED ACFT 500 FT ABOVE THEM. THEY LEVEL OFF TO AVOID THE TFC.
Narrative: CLBING OUT FROM SJO PASSING THROUGH ABOUT 6000 FT GOT TCASII TA AND VISUAL CONTACT WITH A LIGHT TWIN ABOUT 500 FT ABOVE US. LEVELED OFF TO AVOID TARGET. APCH CTL DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT TFC IN THE AREA. SUBSEQUENTLY APCH ADMITTED TO KNOWING ABOUT THE TFC.
