Narrative:

We were given an altitude change from 16000 ft to 17000 ft in the climb. We also were given a frequency change. As I was retuning the radio we overshot the 17000 ft leveloff by 300 ft. As I was instructing the first officer in how to get back to the correct altitude the controller called and informed us we were off our altitude. We leveled at the correct altitude. There was no other conflict.
