Narrative:
While flying the okk STAR into ord we were informed by the flight attendants that we had a very sick passenger on board that flew in from lima. I sent the jumpseat rider, a pilot, back to get the information from the flight attendant that dispatch requested when we informed them of this situation. Meanwhile we were approaching bearz intersection and we were at 16000 ft and could not get through to center to inform them of our need for paramedics. At the same time dispatch sent us the frequency 128.37 for center. We called and called. No answer. Then dispatch sent us frequency 127.8. We called and finally got an answer. We were IFR and in clouds and icing at this time. ZAU handled us and turned us over to approach control immediately. We had no time to inform him of the paramedics that were meeting our flight. When the first officer contacted approach control he told them of our altitude and then told them about the paramedics. We were set up for the approach into runway 22R the usual runway from the okk arrival, but they then changed us to runway 14R to help us get in quicker with the paramedics waiting at the gate. We were kept high and slow and the wind was 210 degrees at 21 KTS gusting to 28 KTS. We had briefed the runway 22R approach with the last min change to runway 22R we briefed but did not compare the data in the FMC. The approach was entered for runway 4R by my brand new first officer restricted. Neither of us noticed it. I was descending rapidly trying to intercept runway 14R on raw data with moderate chop in IFR conditions and runway winds 210 degrees, 20 KTS, gusting to 28 KTS. The approach was uncomfortable for me so I elected to go around at about 2000 ft. We were then vectored for an approach to runway 22R. Landed on runway 22R and the paramedics were waiting for us at the gate.

ATC COORDINATED WITH FLC AND TRIED TO SPD THEIR ARR BY ASSIGNING A RWY WHICH PROVIDED CLOSER EXIT TO RPTR'S GATE, BUT THAT RWY HAD MARGINALLY SAFE WIND CONDITIONS. THAT, COUPLED WITH THE FO HAVING PROBS INSERTING THE NEW RWY AND THE CAPT ON RAW DATA, THEY ELECTED TO DO A GAR. APCH CTLR THEN ASSIGNED THE INITIAL RWY WITH MORE FAVORABLE WINDS.
