B727 aircraft in cruise between merida and cuba, flight crew requested lower altitude and cleared to 14000 ft. After beginning descent, flight crew realized they were still in cuban airspace. Contacted the cuban controller who had them contact merida.

Location: cun/041/90. At FL350 in contact with both merida and cuba. Requested lower altitude. Received clearance to FL140. Began descent. Realized clearance was issued by merida although aircraft still in cuban airspace. Contacted havana who had us contact merida.
