Narrative:
Severe mountain wave. Aircraft accelerated to mach maximum operating in just a few seconds and started to climb at up to 1500 FPM. Aircraft is an A320 and was coupled up to autoplt 2 and autothrust. Had to disconnect autoplt to get control and descended back to cruise FL370. Maximum altitude reached was FL383.

Title: A320 ACFT IN CRUISE ENCOUNTERED MOUNTAIN WAVE ACTION. ACFT ACCELERATED TO MACH MAX OPERATING AND, DUE TO PROTECTION MODES IN THE ACFT, IT PITCHED UP AND CLBED 1400 FT BEFORE THE RPTR WAS ABLE TO DISCONNECT THE AUTOPLT AND DSND BACK TO ASSIGNED.
