Narrative:
Upon landing at hao airport, the dispatcher said the ohio state police had called asking if one of several aircraft call numbers belonged to the hao FBO. The dispatcher replied affirmative to one of the numbers, the plane I was flying at the time. The state police claimed that they were doing traffic monitoring over I-75 and that this tail number aircraft was flying below them in a careless manner, causing them to take evasive action. I told the airport FBO manager that the state police had misread the tail number. I was not in the area of the alleged incident, had flown to hookfield (mwo) for touch-and-go lndgs, and was never below 2500 ft MSL (2000 ft AGL) during cruise. Because it was possible that this officer may choose to file an incident report, with an erroneous assumed tail number, I am filing this report to protect myself.

Title: STATE POLICE ACCUSE C172 PLT OF LOW FLYING IN THE VICINITY OF I-75. RPTR DENIES IT.
Narrative: UPON LNDG AT HAO ARPT, THE DISPATCHER SAID THE OHIO STATE POLICE HAD CALLED ASKING IF ONE OF SEVERAL ACFT CALL NUMBERS BELONGED TO THE HAO FBO. THE DISPATCHER REPLIED AFFIRMATIVE TO ONE OF THE NUMBERS, THE PLANE I WAS FLYING AT THE TIME. THE STATE POLICE CLAIMED THAT THEY WERE DOING TFC MONITORING OVER I-75 AND THAT THIS TAIL NUMBER ACFT WAS FLYING BELOW THEM IN A CARELESS MANNER, CAUSING THEM TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION. I TOLD THE ARPT FBO MGR THAT THE STATE POLICE HAD MISREAD THE TAIL NUMBER. I WAS NOT IN THE AREA OF THE ALLEGED INCIDENT, HAD FLOWN TO HOOKFIELD (MWO) FOR TOUCH-AND-GO LNDGS, AND WAS NEVER BELOW 2500 FT MSL (2000 FT AGL) DURING CRUISE. BECAUSE IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT THIS OFFICER MAY CHOOSE TO FILE AN INCIDENT RPT, WITH AN ERRONEOUS ASSUMED TAIL NUMBER, I AM FILING THIS RPT TO PROTECT MYSELF.
