Narrative:
Upon extension of flaps to 5 degrees, the flap transit light (amber) on forward panel illuminated. Complied with procedures in pilots handbook and landed on runway 18R in clt. Requested long runway 18R and ATC declared emergency after we notified them of abnormal condition.
