Super MD80 landed runway 35C and cleared to hold short runway 35L. Tower cleared to cross runway 35L. Acknowledged and started to cross. Tower advised of aircraft with lights on and in response reporter made a sudden stop. No injuries in the cabin. Tower asked aircraft to turn off lights and cleared aircraft to continue taxi.

Narrative:
Captain flying taxiing. Landed runway 35C dfw. Taxied clear of runway. Tower instructed hold short of runway 35L monitor complied. First officer contacted ramp. Tower cleared us to cross runway 35L monitor 121.8 other side. I answered and began taxi when tower to confirm crossing clearance and mentioned lighted aircraft. Tower confirmed our taxi clearance and asked air carrier Y to turn lights off. No one reported hurt in back no damage.
