Narrative:
We were level at FL250 and the copilot left the cockpit to use the lavatory. ZDC cleared me to climb to FL370. I read back the clearance and entered FL370 into the autoplt. Leaving FL288 the TCASII gave a yellow alert. I called center and advised him of the traffic. The TCASII changed to red so I disengaged the autoplt and then followed the descent commands. Center called back and said to descend to FL270. The copilot returned to the cockpit and set the autoplt altitude command window to FL270 and assisted with the radio. Supplemental information from acn 355271: issued an altitude clearance to climb and maintain FL270. The pilot read the clearance back correctly. When leaving FL304, the radar controller issued a descent clearance to FL270.
